History:
Originating from Indonesia, the Anklung (bamboo shaker) has found
its way all over Asia, making it one of the most popular bamboo
instruments. It is played as a set by one or two persons, or
in an ensemble, with each person holding one or two of these instruments.

Staccato Samples:
This set of thirty Philippine anklungs used were taken from the PCFI and used
by the Musikong Kawayan
which I teach. The staccato samples were produced by briskly tapping the
anklung as it is held with a slight tilt to keep the bamboo tubes
from bouncing too many times. The range of the complete set spans C4 to F6 with four
velocity levels, p, mp, mf and f.

The sustain samples are several seconds in length. The range of the complete set spans C4 to F6 with four
velocity levels.
