At first I was petrified, but as the piece progressed along with the darkness of the film, I thought, well, yeah, this Rachmanioff Prelude has this kind of surreal flavor, kind of classical music meets goth. Right there and then, I fell in love with Lola Astanova's artistry. Warning though, this is not for the faint of heart so if you are a cutesy-cutesy classical music fanatic, this is not for you.
I found Lola at youtube playing a Scriabin Etude and my jaw dropped, not only because of how good she plays but because of how intimate she is with her art. If this Russia-born pianist gets really famous, oh what a scandal she is going to splatter on the classical world!
